YNU E-SSUP Financial Assistance for Accommodation Fee associated with Self-Quarantine for International Students (AY2021)

As of now, the Japanese government has restricted the new entry of foreign nationals to prevent the spread of COVID-19. We notify in advance that YNU will provide the financial assistance for the accommodation fee associated with self-quarantine for its international students who are willing to enter Japan with a newly issued visa. (The following application guidelines may change abruptly depending on the Japanese government's border enforcement measures.) The application form will be available once the Japanese government permits entry into Japan.

Objective

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, international students are required to stay at an accommodation, such as hotels (*university dormitories and private homes are not allowed) and self-quarantine for 14 days counting from the day after arrival in Japan. Since all expenses for the 14-day quarantine period should be self-borne, YNU will provide the following financial assistance for its international students to reduce their financial burden to start their student life in Japan.

Eligibility

Applicants must satisfy all the following conditions from 1) to 3):
1) Regular undergraduate and graduate students, Research students (kenkyusei) , Exchange Students (JOY Program, Japanese Language and Japanese Culture Program etc.)enrolling in or after April 1, 2020.
2) Those who entered Japan with a newly issued visa.
3) Those who stayed at accommodations such as hotels for the 14-day quarantine.
In principle, the following students are NOT eligible.
- Students who are financially supported for the quarantine by the Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT), foreign governments or other institutions such as JICA or World Bank.
